March Break is Meant for Reading!

It’s that time of year again, at least around here:  March Break.

When I was in school, this meant ample time to devour new books, while begrudgingly finishing projects and papers that were ruining my fun.  My bag of goodies from the library would hang heavy from my arm, but the comfort of those books made it all worthwhile.

Whether you’re a student on break or a parent taking time off with the kids, reading time is great self-care.  Whether you’re on the beach or curled up on the couch, you can’t go wrong.

For those looking for something to read (or something to gift a teen reader), I’ve decided that March 14th and 15th will be free Change of Season days on Kindle.  Help yourself to a brooding mystery, where nothing is what it seems and knowing who to trust is nearly impossible.

For the marathon readers like me, its sequel, Waiting For A Star To Fall will be on Kindle Countdown pricing as well–meaning the faster you grab it, the deeper the discount!

(The prequel story, Pretty In Scarlet, remains free on Wattpad.)

For details on both titles, head to my Amazon profile pageAs for what I’ve been up to, I have exciting news in the works for a new project, a third installment in the Autumn Brody series, and more!

Shh! It’s Autumn’s Birthday This Month – And Readers Get Presents!

Happy September!

I happen to love Fall the best of all the seasons–so much so, I named a character after it.  I tend to move in cycles with the creative process, and I’m sure other writers have their own rhythm.  For me, this season tends to engage my Muse like no other time of year.

Or maybe I write better with hot chocolate.  Who knows?

September is pretty special, because it brings the birthday of Autumn Brody, the haunted (in more ways than one) protagonist of Change Of Season and Waiting For A Star To Fall.  I know you’re not supposed to play favourites with your children, but let’s get real, writers:  we have favourites.  We have our darlings (whom we sometimes kill).  Autumn is one of mine.

Before I move on to my next project (a standalone work with no ghosts!), I wanted to say thank you to those who’ve embraced the series, or simply support indie authors.  It may be Autumn’s birthday, but since she’s not big on attention, she insists you get the gifts.

Autumn turns 20 on September 21st!  Let’s Party!

  • Starting September 27th (Goodreads won’t let us party sooner), I’m launching new giveaways on Goodreads for signed copies of Change Of Season and Waiting For A Star To Fall!  Bonus: entering the giveaway for one book means winning both!  Follow me on Goodreads and get ready to win.
  • On September 21st, both books will be free on Kindle!  If you haven’t met Autumn yet, it’s the perfect chance without breaking the bank.
  • Also on September 21st, you’ll want to head over to Wattpad, where I’ll be debuting the first two chapters of the series prequel, Pretty In Scarlet.  Told from the perspective of Nikki Lang, Scarlet stands alone, but serves to add new insights into the mystery at the heart of Change Of Season.  It also features several fun nods to Autumn’s world.

I am thrilled to share this new story from the Brodyverse with the world, before (temporarily) stepping away from these characters to dig into my new project.  I hope you love Nikki as much as I do.

Remember:
Follow me on Goodreads so you don’t miss the giveaways
Pick up your ebooks on Amazon, if you haven’t already done so
Meet Nikki over at Wattpad, where she’ll be sharing her version of the truth

As for the new project, details are coming soon! I’ll be starting it in November, as part of NaNoWriMo.

Guest Post: I Want To Believe

Back when the incredible Cindy at Book About first offered to share her space with me, one of the questions she posed was about the joking reference in my bio to a novel-length X-Files fanfiction.  She wondered if it, like the show’s truth, was “out there”.

Alas, it is not.  All I have are the first chapters scribbled on notebook paper and a 5 1/2 inch floppy disk with the lost Wordperfect document.  Don’t worry; it wasn’t that good.  Okay, maybe the combination of Mulder, Scully and Cairo was pretty fun, but it was pure whimsy and personal amusement.

It did get me thinking about my tendency to write about the unexplained:  destiny, coincidence as fate, and ghosts.  It seems the roots of the Autumn Brody series go back to my very beginnings.

Over at Book About, you can read all about my family’s peculiar history, my odd taste in books and my youthful career ambitions, and how they shape the worlds I create.  If I’ve piqued your curiosity, Change Of Season is free today only on Kindle.
