For the last year, Nikki has been spiraling down into the depression she used to self-medicate.  Little pranks in her dorm room have turned more sinister.  Nightly calls from a mystery man breathing heavily persist, despite Nikki changing her number.  Sleepless, scared and strained to her limits, the news that young women with scarlet hair have been disappearing from Casteel for years has her on edge.

Nikki doesn’t know it yet, but she’s about to get her passive wish:  two days from now, she’s going to die.
